KAT Token: What It Is and How It Works¶
KAT is the token of Katana Network. You can hold and trade it like any other token, but its main purpose is staking. When you stake KAT, you get a say in where Katana’s KAT rewards go, deciding which DeFi pools on Katana receive incentives, and you earn rewards for taking part.
The Three Forms of KAT¶
KAT comes in three forms, depending on whether and how you stake it:
| What it is | Good for | |
|---|---|---|
| KAT | The token you hold and trade | Holding, trading, and staking |
| vKAT | Staked KAT that you vote with directly | Choosing yourself where rewards go |
| avKAT | Staked KAT in a vault that votes and compounds rewards for you | Earning rewards without managing your votes |
For a closer look at each form and how to move between them, see Understanding the KAT Token Ecosystem.
