What Is Katana Network?

Katana is an Ethereum Layer 2 built for DeFi. It brings trading, lending, liquidity, and yield into one network designed to make capital more productive.

Katana connects to Ethereum through Agglayer and combines financial applications such as spot trading, perpetual futures, lending, and vaults with infrastructure designed to keep liquidity working across the network.

Unlike networks that primarily provide infrastructure for applications to deploy, Katana is designed so the network itself contributes to the growth and liquidity of its financial markets.

Why Katana Exists

DeFi liquidity is often fragmented across applications and networks. Bridged assets can sit idle, protocols compete for liquidity independently, and the economic value generated by a blockchain does not necessarily strengthen the markets operating on it.

Katana was built around a different model: make the network an active participant in its own economy.

Assets bridged to Katana can remain productive through Vault Bridge, while a portion of network revenue is used to build Chain-Owned Liquidity that remains deployed across Katana’s DeFi markets.

Together, these mechanisms are designed to create a reinforcing system: capital brought to Katana can remain productive, network activity can generate resources for liquidity, and that liquidity can support deeper and more efficient markets.

The result is a network where liquidity, applications, and network economics work together rather than operating independently.

How Katana Works

Katana’s economic model is built around a few core components:

  • Vault Bridge: Assets bridged to Katana can continue earning yield through curator-managed strategies, helping bridged capital remain productive.

  • Chain-Owned Liquidity: A portion of net sequencer fees is used to build liquidity owned by the network and deployed across Katana’s DeFi markets.

  • Agglayer & Tech Stack: Katana is an Ethereum Layer 2 that uses zero-knowledge proofs to settle to Ethereum and connects natively to Agglayer.
